Hans-Peter Schletter
Hans-Peter Schletter is the City Archaeologist of Krefeld at the Museum Burg Linn. He studied at the University of Cologne and Ruhr University Bochum, where he earned his doctorate in Prehistoric Archaeology with a study on a Urnfield-period settlement in the middle Isar valley.
During his studies, he directed several excavations for the City Archaeology of Duisburg and, as part of a university project in western Turkey, led the excavation of an Archaic hilltop sanctuary. He later worked as excavation director in Greece, Bavaria, and the Netherlands.
Over the years, Dr. Schletter has supervised numerous excavations in the Rhineland and Westphalia, spanning periods from the Neolithic to the modern era. His research interests are broad and include Iron Age settlement archaeology, Roman battlefield studies, medieval church construction and urban development, as well as early modern ship archaeology.
